The Drowsy Chaperone

Why see The Drowsy Chaperone?

Modern day musical theatre addict known simply as 'Man in Chair' drops the needle on his favorite LP: the 1928 musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone.

From the crackle of his hi-fi, the musical comes to life on stage, telling the tale of a pampered Broadway starlet who wants to give up show business to get married, her producer who sets out to sabotage the nuptials, her chaperone, the debonair groom, the dizzy chorine, the Latin lover and a pair of gangsters who double as pastry chefs.

Don't miss this show!

The name may not be as well known as other productions, but it should be! A wonderful ensemble cast performs one of the best scripts ever written for a musical comedy. The musical numbers were a blast. Some you just have to see to believe (a monkey on a pedestal?), but 6 months after the show I still am laughing! We met a few of the cast at the stage door after the show, what a nice group of people, all saying they are having a great time doing this show. It is one of the smartest shows I have ever seen, even though it is very silly. There is no intermission, and the ushers told us this before curtain, which was much appreciated. I would see this again in a minute! It is definitely "Lovely in the end"! ... Read more
