A star cast comes together for this huge new revival of the classic 1955 musical Damn Yankees! Produced in partnership with Major League Baseball, the production sees decorated stage and screen actor Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother; Hedwig and the Angry Itch) as Applegate, Emmy winner dancer, singer and actress Julianne Hough (Dancing With The Stars; Rock of Ages) making her Broadway debut as Lola, and Hamilton's Austin Scott as Young Joe. Directed by Tony and Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo (On Your Feet; Memphis), a zinging book from George Abbott and Douglass Wallop and a score brimming with hits from Richard Adler and Jerry Ross punctuate this retro comedy romp about baseball...and the devil.
Damn Yankees concerns middle-aged basketball obsessed Joe Boyd and the madcap, faustian lengths he'll go to to see his beloved Washington Senators win the league. He's visited by a mysterious, devilish figure who calls himself "Applegate", who offers Joe a deal seemingly too good to refuse: he can be twenty-two again, join his favorite team as a player, and become a hero by helping them beat a team that then seemed invincible; the New York Yankees. Joe agrees to leave his wife and home behind for this once-in-a-lifetime offer, but insists on an escape clause so that he can return. Combining the age-old fable warning against making deals with the devil, with an all-American sports background in baseball, this musical is about as American as it can get! Featuring the popular songs including "Goodbye Old Girl", "A Man Doesn't Know" and "Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, Mo".
