Inherit The Wind

Why see Inherit The Wind?

Although the conflict in this play, based on a real event, took place in 1925, it could easily be lifted from the current headline, "American Students: Should They Be Taught Intelligent Design or Evolution?"

This courtroom drama is based on the 1925 Scopes "Monkey Trial," in which a Tennessee teacher was charged with teaching that man evolved from apes, instead of state-mandated Creationism. The drama contains a powerful confrontation between a character based on William Jennings Bryan, who believes only what he reads in the Bible, and another based on Clarence Darrow, who defends science and open intellectual inquiry.

FAN OF THE THEATRE

My wife and I saw the show Wednesday night April 11. We were fortunate enough to have seats in the on-stage gallery. As amatuer theatre actors and professional theatre buffs we were enthralled and completly taken in by the supurb perfomances of Christopher Plummer and Brian Dennehy. To see these icons up close was an honor and a thrill that we will never forget. Inherit The wind is topical and extremely relevant in today's culture. The 'monkey trial' could have happened yesterday. We felt we were part of the cast and loved the perfomances of all the actors especially Mr. Plummer and Mr. Dennehy. Don't miss this exciting Broadway evening. ... Read more

Extremely Moving & Engrossing

It has been a long time since I have felt myself totally involved in a play. This play brought me back to a place where I felt totally involved in the action. The performances by both Mr. Dennehy & Mr. Plummer were extraordinary. This is a play no one should miss. It is a timeless classic due to the topic of the play. I look foward to seeing it again before it closes ... Read more

Easily the best thing I've seen on stage

We arrived at the play half expecting the lead actors to play the opposite roles. However, Christopher Plummer's turn as Drummond was masterful. This play should be required viewing for all... as most will find it inspiring and meaningful. ... Read more
