Gruesome Playground Injuries

Why see Gruesome Playground Injuries?

Starring Nicholas Braun and Kara Young

Rajiv Joseph's poignant Gruesome Playground Injuries returns this fall! The Off-Broadway revival of the Pulitzer Prize finalist's 2009 play is directed by Neil Pepe, with an exciting pairing in the lead roles; Succession's three-time Emmy-nominated Nicholas Braun, and Kara Young, a two-time Tony Award winner and the first ever black actress to be Tony nominated in four consecutive years. Running from November 7 through to December 28, experience a play that has been highly lauded for its darkly funny yet deeply affecting musing on the strange ways human connection endures.

What Is The Story?

Kayleen and Doug first meet in childhood with, well, gruesome playground injuries; in the nurse's office Doug is in a state having attempted a ridiculous stunt on his bicycle, while Kayleen just can't stop vomiting. And so the scene is set for two people whose paths continue to cross in the most unconventional ways through time, with literal and figurative wounds bringing them together time and time again. A contemplation on how pain can become the very thing that keeps us tethered to one another, don't miss this brilliant play.
