Atlantic Theater Company present a new comedy from playwright Kenneth Lonergan. Centered around a country music star (played by Emmy nominee Timothy Olyphant) who abandons the rich trappings of his lifestyle, Hold On To Me Darling is directed by the Company's artistic director Neil Pepe, a longtime friend of Lonergan. Pepe has described the play as "a wonderfully American story about both the satisfaction of success and the disillusionment of celebrity."
Lonergan's best known work, This Is Our Youth, enjoyed a much buzzed about revival on Broadway in 2015, with Michael Cera and Kieran Culkin in the lead roles. Alongside his theatre work, Lonergan is also an acclaimed name in the world of film, having directed You Can Count On Me and Margaret, and co-written the script for Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York.
World famous Country Music star Strings McCrane (Olyphant) is devastated by the death of his mother, and begins to question if his fame and money is really making him happy. Hoping to find the answer, he packs up his bags and returns to his sleepy Tennessee home town, in search of some deeper meaning to his life. As things turn out, it's not quite the soul-cleansing experience he was hoping for...
