Joy: A New True Musical takes center stage Off-Broadway this summer, directed by Lorin Latarro. With a creative team including Tony Award winner Ken Davenport (book), Tony nominee AnnMarie Milazzo (music and lyrics) and Emmy award winner Joshua Bergasse (choreography), leading the cast is the luminous Betsy Wolfe (& Juliet) as the titular Joy Mangano, joined by an ensemble of seasoned Broadway talent. A true American story brought to life, the show begins previews at the Laura Pels Theatre on June 21, with an official opening slated for July 20.

What is the story?

A story that has also been told in the 2015 movie of the same name starring Jennifer Lawrence, Joy follows the real-life journey of inventor and entrepreneur Joy Mangano, whose determination transformed her from a struggling single mother into a self-made millionaire. In 1990s Long Island, Joy is on a quest to bring her revolutionary Miracle Mop to market, navigating family chaos and corporate resistance along the way. As setbacks mount and the stakes rise, Joy must turn obstacles into stepping stones to achieve her dream.
