The sacrifices to climb the corporate ladder
Alex Lin's Chinese Republicans is a bold new drama, playing off-Broadway in 2026 under the direction of Chay Yew, courtesy of the Roundabout Theatre Company. With an eye on cultural identity and workplace ambition, Lin's play delivers a riveting portrait of the trials and tribulations of navigating the corporate world, through the lens of those who have fought to thrive within it.
Three formidable businesswomen, many rungs up the corporate ladder, have met for regular power lunches over the course of decades to discuss their success. But all is upended when Katie, a young newcomer to the world of corporate finance, joins their circle, eager to learn the ropes. But as they guide her through the cut-throat world of corporate triumph, they begin to understand their own personal compromises and what success' has actually cost them.
