A sell-out on its 2020 Signature theatre debut and a critic's pick during its 2024 run at New Jersey's Papermill Playhouse (under its former name, Gun & Powder), this newly monikered musical will land at the James Earl Jones theatre this fall, starring Liisi LaFontaine and Solea Pfeiffer as white-passing twins Martha and Mary Clarke in 1890's Texas.
The ancestors of writer Angelica Cheri, whose story has become legend, Wanted imagines the sisters' journey across the state as they use their biracial identity to their advantage, heading on a crime spree to raise money for their sharecropper mother and exact justice.
With a soundtrack that fuses jazz, blues, soul, and more, this exhilarating musical shines a light on these remarkable women and their radical approach, while exploring the nature of 'passing' and its continued impact on people of color to this day.
