The mind-bending, time traveling story with multiple endings was pioneering for its era, and the beautiful score, mixing elements of classical, jazz, folk, city-pop and other styles, contributed to the game becoming truly iconic. Composer Yasunori Mitsuda was only 22 when he began working on the soundtrack, and pushed himself so hard that he contracted stomach ulcers, forcing fellow legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu to step in to finish the last few tracks!
