Why see The Damned?
Britain's First Punk Band
Leading the British punk rock revolution that would also birth The Sex Pistols and The Clash, The Damned released their debut single 'New Rose' in 1976. Their debut album, Damned Damned Damned, a full-throttle assault of poppy hooks and machine gun riffage, followed soon after and their place in the punk history books was assured.
While they may have blazed a path for all the snotty, anarchic bands that followed in their wake, The Damned always had a streak of dark theatricality to their music, something they fully embraced late on in their career as goth rock pioneers.

Searing and scalding, a harrowing tale of the von Essenbeck family as they play out
their internecine struggles and face their eventual doom. The entire cast was
extraordinarily good, especially the family matriarch Baronne Sophie and her son
Martin. A play that lingers in the mind long after its end. How fortunate for us New

Fantastically creative and imaginative staging. The cinematography was the highlight. Terrific use of the incredible space at the Park Avenue Armory. Somewhat of an assault on the senses, presumably intentional given the sordid story and that time in history. Don't bring anyone who is sensitive to loud noise, nudity or strobe lights. ... Read more
