Writer-director duo return with unique new play this February
Obie Award winning writer Wallace Shawn and iconic director Andre Gregory reunite on this singular and surreal new play, premiering at the Greenwich House Theater in February 2026. Focusing around a middle-class family and the loves - and regrets - of their lives, What We Did Before Our Moth Days is a frank, funny, and sometimes absurd examination of life's complications.
This is a thoroughly middle-class community: happy families leading gentle live with no cracks on the surface... right? In this strained world, one family reveals the lasting, and unpredictable, impact of love on their lives. Heartbreak, resentment, joy, suffocation, and freedom swirl around each other - and whether it's the son, mother, father, or the father's mistress of many years, the path of their life seems to twist and turn beyond recognition.
