The Fever

The Fever at Greenwich House Theater

Why see The Fever?

Wallace Shawn's Obie-winning play

Obie Award-winning actor and writer Wallace Shawn (The Princess Bride) brings a revival of his critically acclaimed one-person play to the Greenwich House Theater, opening in February 2026! Focusing on a nameless man coming to terms with the unrealised privilege of his life, The Fever is a frank and timely look at the cost of America's luxuries.

What Is The Story?

A nameless man is in the grips of a fever. Holed up in a low-rent hotel in a country being torn apart by political strife, restriction of freedoms and poverty, the man is forced to look at his life. As he slowly recovers from the fever, he starts to realize the innate privilege that has surrounded him since he was born - and that the horrors of the outside world are not only painfully real, but have been there all the time. Originally performed in 1990, The Fever feels even more relevant and powerful today.
