Deliriously dishy...an R-rated sitcom satire with some very funny jokes.

Terrence McNally's play "It's Only a Play" is a hilarious send-up of the theatre business set on the eve of 'The Golden Egg's' opening night where a nervous playwright, his best friend, and a host of other showbiz characters await the first reviews. The play, which opened on Broadway in late 2014, brought one of the theatre world's best-loved duos together again, none other than The Producers' Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick!
It's Only A Play is the perfect follow-up to the success of The Producers, as it is a tongue-in-cheek take on the trials and tribulations theatre business and the characters that inhabit its world. It continues to amuse audiences at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, where the production moved from January 23rd.
Although he has now departed the show, Nathan Lane was highly successful in creating the role of James Wicker, an egotistical comic actor, for this Broadway production. His performance in 2001's The Producers earned him a Tony Award, with the show itself scooping up 12 awards in total! Matthew Broderick, who created this production's lead role of the playwright, Peter Austin, earned his Tony Stripes back in 1983 with his performance in the play Brighton Beach Memoirs. This revival of It's Only a Play will be directed by producer-director-writer Jack O'Brien, who has three Tony Awards to his name himself as well as numerous other industry awards.
