All Star cast!

After a critically lauded Off-Broadway premiere in 2015, Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winning playwright Bess Wohl’s absurdist comedy play Small Mouth Sounds finally arrives on Broadway with an extraordinary all-star cast. Directed by three-time Tony winner Joe Mantello (Death of a Salesman), the production stars Martin Freeman (The Hobbit), making his Broadway debut, alongside Oscar winner Julia Roberts (Erin Brockovich), Paul Rudd (Three Days of Rain), Tony Award winner Sarah Paulson (Appropriate), Greta Lee (The Morning Show), and Isaac Powell (West Side Story). The production crew also features a team of award-winning heavyweights, including Tony winners Chloe Lamford and Jack Knowles on scenic and lighting design, respectively, as well as music by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw.

What Is The Story?

Six complete strangers, each with their own personal struggles, travel to take part in a silent retreat in upstate New York. They’re all in their own way looking to turn their thoughts inside, escaping the noise of their ordinary lives in the hope of changing themselves for the better. Sounds relaxing, right? Well actually… nope, of course it’s not going to turn out that way. Bess Wohl’s sidesplittingly funny absurdist play follows the group as they try to reach meditative calm deep within, but instead find complete pandemonium.
