Scottish Ballet presents Sophie Laplane and James Bonas' new production of Mary, Queen of Scots in New York, coming this side of the pond having marked its world premiere in Scotland last year. It's a powerful work and refreshing take on a well known story, exploring the turbulence of Queen Elizabeth I's memories - or imaginations - of her cousin and one of history's most fascinating monarchs, Mary, Queen Of Scots.

The famous Scottish Queen's psychological turmoil during her journey from queen to prisoner is a familiar part of history, with betrayals aplenty everywhere she looked. Laplane and Bonas' new work shifts the perspective, breathing fresh new life into the captivating tale. With a mesmerizing soundtrack by Mikael Larsson and Michael P Atkinson, and with incredible sets designed by Soutra Gilmour, this is a dramatic modern take on one of the most famous periods in British history.
