Peck & Balanchine Finally Share the Same Program

The New York City Ballet presents a landmark program of works that includes pieces from current Resident Choreographer Justin Peck with its founding choreographer George Balanchine for the first time ever! It also marks the world premiere of Peck's brand new work, a collaboration between Academy Award nominated indie singer songwriter Sufjan Stevens and Tony Award-winning set designer Mimi Lien.

The simmering kinetic energy and jaw-dropping physical release of Balanchine's Symphony in Three Movements follows opener New Peck 1. A powerful, dynamic response to the jazz tones in Stravinsky's score, the large ensemble work is simply startling in its bold choreography, energy and complexity and requires both athleticism and poise. The evening closes with The Times Are Racing, Peck's distinctly modern, much talked about 'sneaker ballet' that premiered to much critical praise in 2017.
