New York City Ballet - All Bach

New York City Ballet - All Bach at David H Koch Theater

Why see New York City Ballet - All Bach?

Two Works to the Music of a Master

Experience the brilliance of a classical music master and the generational works his art inspires from the most eminent voices across the disciplines, in this all-Bach program presented by the New York City Ballet. Works by two icons of the ballet field, George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins, both set to the music of Bach, bring into one production the collective output of three true geniuses, for a sumptuous evening of ballet.

The performances features Balanchine's Concerto Barocco, considered to be one of his greatest ever pieces of choreography, featuring two ballerinas representing each of the soloing instruments in Bach's Double Violin Concerto in D Minor. The real meat of the program then comes from Jerome Robbins choreography to the composer's legendary Goldberg Variations, a 1-hour 24-minute work paying tribute to the colossal work through the use of both classical and contemporary movement. Don't miss this spectacular display of the peak of these artforms.
