The New York City Ballet continues their groundbreaking 21st Century Choreographers series with edition IV. Comprised of a smorgasbord of new and thought-provoking works, the program kicks off with internationally renowned Taiwanese-American choreographer Edwaard Liang's latest ballet for 16 dancers Lineage, set to the music of British composer Oliver Davis.
This is followed by Christopher Wheeldon's acclaimed new work This Bitter Earth, a poetic dance for two that wraps itself around the haunting melodies of the music of Dinah Washington and Max Richter. Things come to a rousing close after Justin Peck's newest offering in the form of a breathtaking world premiere by Alvin Ailey American Dance Company principal dancer Jamar Roberts. The budding choreographer's first piece is set to be a highlight of the NYCB's spring season.
