2020 sees the return of New York Ballet's celebrated 21st Century Choreographers series. Part three highlights work from four of the century's most exciting contemporary choreographers, including, young-star Gianna Reisen, Christopher Wheeldon, Tony winner Justin Peck, and Pam Tanowitz.

Composer's Holiday
Choreography by Giana Reisen and music by Lukas Foss

First debuting in 2017 Composer's Holiday made Gianna Reisen the youngest choreographer to work with the New York City Ballet (she was only 18)! Now returning in 2020, Composer's Holiday brings a fresh vitality to the stage and showcases Reisen's exquisite work, set to a gorgeous piano and violin interpretation of Lukas Foss' Three American Pieces. 

Liturgy
Choreography by Christopher Wheeldon and music by Avro Part

In this meditative Pax de Deux, two dancers showcase their mystical athletic talent as they connect with ever-increasing intensity before mysteriously fading into darkness... 

Belles-Lettres
Choreography by Justin Peck and music by Cesar Franck

As one of Justin Peck's more romantic pieces, Belles-Lettres features nine dancers in gorgeously embroidered costumes, from Mary Katrantzou, in swooning sequences which build to an emotional climax. 

New Tanowitz
Choreography by Pam Tanowitz and music by Ted Hearne

Praised by The New Yorker for her "clean and sharp steps" and "intelligent style" Pam Tanowitz debuts her highly anticipated second work for the New York City Ballet.
