American Ballet Theatre Fall

Nothing says fall like American Ballet Theatre! ABT is back at the David H. Koch Theater this autumn for two weeks of ballet brilliance, with three programmes to choose from as part of its 86th and most diverse season yet!

Fresh Visions And Timeless Classics

The first programme opens with Petal by Helen Pickett, a lively, brightly coloured ballet inspired by the gerber daisy. Up next is Jiri Kylian’s Petite Mort, which explores desire and vulnerability through the music of Mozart. The program finishes with Paquita, Natalia Makarova’s production of the classic favourite.

Neoclassical Works

Frederick Ashton's Birthday Offering is an opportunity for seven ballerinas to shine with a solo designed to show off their individual talents, followed by Kyle Abraham's Mercurial Son – a welcome new addition to the Company's contemporary repertoire – and George Balanchine's Ballet Imperial, an homage to classical Russian ballet set to Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 2.

An Elegy And A Dream

The final program opens with something brand new: the World Premiere of Trio Elegiaque, choreographed by ABT corps de ballet member and choreographer Brady Farrar, set to Rachmaninoff.

Next up is Jae Man Joo’s Flight, which marries intricate movement to Bach’s haunting music, followed by Frederick Ashton’s The Dream, which takes us into the world of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with Mendelssohn’s stunning score.
