Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose

Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose at The Davenport Theater

Why see Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose?

The critically-acclaimed tribute to an acting giant

A powerful, poignant ode to British acting legend George Rose, who else is better placed to pay tribute than his friend and mentee of more than 20 years, Ed Dixon! Written and starring Dixon alone on stage, this stage show depicts an astonishing 33 characters that all interact with the now late, Tony Award-winning character actor George Rose. Dizzying, humorous and fast-moving, this production takes us through Rose's storied career that saw him perform on stage in both London's West End and on Broadway opposite Katharine Hepburn, Noel Coward, Dame Edith Evans, Richard Burton, and Laurence Olivier, until his violent and tragic death by family.

Rose today is as famed for his luminary theatre career in musicals such as My Fair Lady (for which he won the Tony Award as Alfred P. Doolittle in 1976), as he is for his horrific end at the hands of his adopted son. This show does not shy away from the darkness, but also celebrates Rose's life and soul with anecdotes, live song and dance and Dixon?‘s uncanny impersonations of the famous?.
