A look back on an artistic life in Joan Beber's new play

Dear Jane is a great contrast to the politically charged productions
After 2015's In Bed with Roy Cohn, Theatre Row welcomes back playwright Joan Beber for a staging of her new play Dear Jane. The action takes place in a New York rehearsal room, with artist Julie looking back over her life. Revisiting her personal struggles, social activism and work on the stage, Julie seeks to to imbue her new piece with all the meaning culled from this lifetime of experience. Katrin Hilbe directs, while Holly Cinnamon, Jon Kovacs, Amanda Rose and Jenny Piersol are among the cast.
Beber's previous Off-Broadway play In Bed with Roy Cohn was a hallucinatory trip inside the addled mind of the famous celebrity lawyer as he neared his death.

Original, Edgy, Inspiring
Theatre Row is quite fascinating, and home to six resident theatre companies. It seemed apt then that the setting for Dear Jane was a rehearsal room with a narrative exploring a woman's struggle for self-expression and artistic passion.
