Blue Jasmine star takes on the Dane
The Classic Stage Company presents a new staging of Shakespeare's Hamlet this March through May. The title character in the bard's tale bloody tale of revenge and madness is often considered the defining role of an actor's stage career, and in recent years the likes Jude Law and David Tenant have taken on the challenge. Joining their ranks this time around will be the Golden Globe-nominated Peter Sarsgaard (An Education, Blue Jasmine), who can currently be seen in NBC's The Slap. He has a long history with the Classic Stage Conmpany, having performed to great acclaim in their 2009 production of Uncle Vanya and 2011's Three Sisters.
This 2015 production is being helmed by Austin Pendelton, and promises a "contemporary take" on the Shakespeare's masterpiece. The cast also includes Penelope Allen (The Thin Red Line) and Tony winner Stephen Spinella (Angels in America).
