Performing a NY premiere

An exciting double program peformed by the visiting Cleveland Orchestra will light up Carnegie Hall in January, conducted by eminent maestro Franz Welser-Most, artistic director of the Midwestern orchestra. Starting with a New York premiere of Austrian composer Johannes Maria Staud's Stromab, which was commissioned by The Royal Danish Theatre and The Cleveland Orchestra in 2016, as a short piece. It will be followed by Mahler's Ninth Symphony, which is considered the most representative work of the composer's hallmarks.

Comprising sweeping scope and profound emotion, and introducing the concept of rustic dance to the proceedings, followed by unchecked ferocity. The symphony concludes with ethereal beauty and a contemplative, serene farewell that borders on the spiritual.
