Two icons of classical music appear at Carnegie Hall
Two icons of classical music join forces for a resplendent series of evenings at Carnegie Hall, performing all of Beethoven's Violin Sonatas over the course of three nights. Decorated violinist Maxin Vengerov, considered by many as one of the world's greatest living violinists, and Argentine pianist Maria Argerich, hailed as one of the greatest pianists of all time, each have truly storied careers. Together, their magnetism and virtuosity are set to provide for a one of a kind, simply thrilling experience to witness.
Together they'll be making their way through the ten sonatas through which Beethoven positioned the violin as an equal partner to the piano, as opposed to mere accompaniment. Composed between 1797 and 1812, within them one can hear the composer's evolution in style, a maturation which formed part of the composer's instrumentality in the transition to romanticism in classical music.
