A veritable icon of rock 'n' roll history, American-Italian singer and guitarist Johnny Rivers rose to prominence in the 60s with a string of smash hit singles including a cover of Chuck Berry's Memphis, Mountain of Love and Summer Rain. While he may have missed blue-eyed rock's first wave, Rivers brought the best of Buddy Holly and Ronnie Hawkins, as well as his own distinctive vocal style, to his hungry audiences. Joining Rivers for this special show will be fellow 60s rockers The Lovin' Spoonful, the NY natives that challenged the British Invasion bands with their own brand of certified American rock. Blending the sounds of pop, rock and jug band, the outfit made their mark with songs like Do You Believe In Magic? and Summer In The City. Their upbeat, cheerful music embraced the good times and is the perfect pairing for Rivers' bluesy, anthemic aesthetic.
