Silver Manhattan is a new stage work by acclaimed singer-songwriter Jesse Malin, co-written with Lauren Ludwig and directed by Ellie Heyman. Drawing on Malin's own decades-spanning career in rock music and the choices faced after suffering a life-changing stroke, the production puts together live performance and storytelling, joined onstage by a full band featuring Malin's longtime collaborators Derek Cruz, Rob Clores, Paul Garisto, James Cruz, and a horn section featuring Danny Ray and Indofunk Satish, with additional vocals by Bree Sharp.
Following a successful career in which Jesse Malin built a prolific solo discography as well as collaborating with the likes of Green Day, Bruce Springsteen and many others, in 2023 he suffered a spinal stroke, leaving him paralyzed below the waist. As his mobility and certainty are stripped away, music becomes his lifeline, offering a way forward when the future feels suddenly dark.
