Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Bruce Norris’s critically acclaimed, unflinching play Downstate finally makes its Broadway debut, for a limited run at the Booth Theatre. Brought to the stage by director and fellow Tony winner Joe Mantello (Death of a Salesman), the uncomfortably hard-hitting work, centered around four sex-offenders, hits the Great White Way fresh off winning Best Play at the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Awards. Bringing this drama to life is an ensemble cast featuring Adrian Martinez, Francis Guinan, Cassie Beck, K. What Is The Story?

In a post-incarceration home in rural Illinois, four men convicted of sexual offenses against minors now share a fragile daily existence under the same roof. They’ve completed their official prison terms, but realistically, true freedom will stay out of reach in a society that will forever treat them as outcasts. When one of the men’s former victims, Andy, unexpectedly arrives at the house to confront the now-elderly man, the collision starts a sequence of events that will ultimately force us to examine the boundaries between justice and revenge, while resisting the easy moral answers.
