An Act of God

Why see An Act of God?

A Return Engagement Of Biblical Proportions

The Almighty blesses New York with his presence once more as An Act of God returns to Broadway. Adapted by Emmy and Golden Globe winner David Javerbaum (The Daily Show) from his own book The Last Testament: A Memoir by God, An Act of God presents us with an irreverent God, who has his finger firmly on the pulse of pop culture. It originally premiered on Broadway in May 2015, with The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons in the lead role, and became one of the highest grossing shows week to week.

Taking on the mantle of The Big Man himself for this return engagement is Emmy winner Sean Hayes, best known for playing Jack McFarland in NBC's Will & Grace. Hayes played the part to great acclaim in the show's Los Angeles and San Francisco engagements, with his sparky comic brain proving a divine fit for Javerbaum's script.

WHAT IS AN ACT OF GOD ABOUT?

An Act of God is the chance to hear about the unfolding of life, the universe and other mysteries from the Big Guy himself. Answers to the existential quandaries of human existence are punctuated by politically incorrect outbursts and ruminations on the latest season of American Idol. All men are equal in God's eyes, which means that no one is safe from his rib-tickling wrath.

A Must See!

If you want a great evening of fun theatre you must see Act of God. I was fortunate to see it on opening night of previews. Jim Parsons is spot on as "God". His two 'helpers" in the form of angels Michael and Gabriel complete this stellar cast. Jim parsons comedic timing is impecable. Not a show for young children but older teens would enjoy this fast paced humor. This is a show I wish I could see more than once in order to catch some the jokes I'm sure I missed. G et tickets before they are gone. ... Read more
