Covenant

Why see Covenant?
the devil went down to Georgia
Premiering this fall at the Black Box Theatre this new play from playwright York Walker and Roundabout Theatre Company follows a musician who returns to his Georgia hometown as a blues star. But at what price did he pay for his success? As suspicions abound that he may have signed his soul over to the devil for his talent, it soon becomes clear that he may not be the only one in town with such a secret.
Perhaps inspired by the story of Robert Leroy Johnson, a delta bluesman who allegedly met the devil at a crossroads, where he tuned his guitar, and passed it back to Johnson, leading many to assume that he sold his soul for his musical prowess. As with Johnson's tale, Covenant fuses mythical with human invention, examining the crux of rumor and truth in an exciting new tale.
