It's Only a Hit!

Jack O'Brien's star-studded revival of It's Only a Play transfers to the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, with performances starting from January 23, 2015. Written by four-time Tony winner Terence McNally, this hilariously vulgar theatrical send-up broke house records at previous home the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, and was one of Broadway's biggest hits of 2014. It was originally due to close in January, but due to the phenomenal public demand and glowing critical notices, it has extended its run until the beginning of June only!

Broadway star Nathan Lane returns to the role of insecure comic actor James Wicker, a role he originated for this production before leaving the show for a short time, with Martin Short replacing him. Alongside Lane is audience favourte and two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick (The Producers) and TV and screen star T. R. Knight. Rounding out the cast are Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus), Tony and Emmy winner Stockard Channing (The West Wing) and two-time Tony winner Katie Finneran (Noises Off).

What is It's Only a Play About?

Playwright Peter Austin's new play The Golden Egg is having its opening night, and his producer throws a party at her house to celebrate. All the cast and creatives are invited, including the drug addicted lead actress and the play's bad boy young director. Amongst the idle gossip and catty remarks, the mood at the gathering turns from celebratory to anxious, as everyone nervously awaits the show's first press reviews.
