Immersive World Premiere

The off-Broadway world premiere of Dirty Books extends through to February 28! Written and directed by Bated Breath Theatre's Mara Lieberman, the immersive production involves the audience in the set and story, with theatregoers collaborating with the cast to put together an erotic tale worthy of the top-shelf in a 1960s adult book store. Based on true stories written by erotic fiction writers of the mid-20th century, the production features a cast of Alexis Pratt, Sophia Carlin, Sammy Rivas, Grayson Willenbacher and Melina Rabin.

What is it about?

Dirty Books explores the battle fought by erotic writers stifled by America's anti-obscenity laws of the mid-20th century. Drawing inspiration from the real stories of the age and transcripts from the Supreme Court, the play traces how artists pushed boundaries and found community within the soft-core adult publishing industry of the 1960s.
