The Pulitzer and Tony Prize winning Atlantic Theater Company closes its groundbreaking 2018/19 season with the New York Premiere of Nomad Motel, a coming of age story set amidst the Californian housing crisis by up and coming young playwright Carla Ching.
Developed by the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwrights Conference, the drama follows two kids from the opposite end of the tracks in the not-so-sunny side of the golden state. Mason is a budding songwriter sent to live alone in America while his tycoon father stays in Hong Kong. Wanting for nothing, his grand home is very different from the different motel rooms Alix lives in whilst she desperately searches for her absentee mother. Yet when Mason is abandoned and their worlds collide they strike up an unlikely friendship that helps them navigate a life lived on the poverty line.
