Paddington The Musical

Paddington The Musical at Al Hirschfeld Theater

Why see Paddington The Musical?

From Peru To London To Broadway!

Winner of seven 2026 Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical!

Pack your marmalade sandwiches and prepare for a bear-y special adventure as Paddington: The Musical transfers to Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre in spring 2027! With original music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher of McFly, a book by Olivier Award-winning playwright Jessica Swale (Nell Gwyn, Stig of the Dump), and direction by Olivier Award nominee Luke Sheppard (& Juliet, In the Heights), it’s time to welcome the world’s most beloved bear to the USA!

What’s The Story?

A young and polite Mr Paddington Bear takes the long trip from deepest Peru to London in search of a new home, but when he arrives in the big city, at Paddington Station of all places, he finds himself lost...until a meeting with the Brown family leads him to Windsor Gardens, where he begins to settle into a new life.

But beneath the charm of London’s polite surface, not everything is as welcoming as it seems, as for Paddington, his innocent curiosity and love of marmalade often land him in humorous trouble! When Paddington suddenly finds himself in danger, the Browns are forced to confront how far they will go - and what they are prepared to risk - to protect the bear who has become part of their family.

Critical Acclaim For Paddington

Paddington: The Musical made its eagerly awaited debut in 2025 at London’s Savoy Theatre. To say Michael Bond’s timeless tale of a true national British treasure made history would be an understatement. The production dominated the 2026 Olivier Awards, bringing home seven wins, including Best New Musical, and received universal acclaim for its use of Paddington’s huggable puppetry magic! Not only this, but the original cast album soared to number 1 on the UK album charts.

Did You Know?

Paddington first appeared in A Bear Called Paddington in 1958, written by Michael Bond, and has since starred in over 20 books, translated into more than 40 languages. He’s the nation’s grand-bear!

Paddington’s love of marmalade isn’t just a quirky trait - it’s become a symbol of his charm, with fans around the world sending jars of marmalade to 32 Windsor Gardens.

Paddington always wears his tag that reads: “Please look after this bear. Thank you.” It’s inspired by evacuee children during WWII.

Paddington’s voice in the hit films is provided by actor Ben Whishaw, who also plays Q in the James Bond series - talk about bear-illiant range!
