13: The Musical
The growing pains junior high musical returns!
We are an independent show guide. Resale ticket prices may be above face value.
For adults, the pleasures in the show mostly come from seeing musical-theater tropes scaled down to kid size: pint-size belters, junior comic relief, and dance numbers that include skateboards.

The growing pains junior high musical returns!
The coming-of-age musical returns to New York! A musical about the pains of growing up, this hilarious and bittersweet tale follows Evan, who is forced to move to rural Indiana from NYC when his parents divorce. All he wants to do at his new school is to get through the rest of the semester unscathed. But naturally, nothing ever goes to plan; the star quarterback is out to get him, his only friend turns his back on him, and the school outcast sees an opportunity for blackmail, whilst somebody spreads the most vicious of rumors! What's a boy to do when everything goes wrong for him? The uplifting, jaunty soundtrack is provided by Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown.
First premiering in 2009, 13 is notable for being the ONLY Broadway musical with its cast entirely comprised of teenage actors! It was the jumping off point for many of our young stars today, some of whom have gone onto movie and TV stardom such as Graham Phillips (The Good Wife's Zack) who starred as Evan, and pop princess Ariana Grande who featured as a cheerleader! A great opportunity to experience the highs and lows of high school again, as well as spotting the next generation of stars!
