Ivo van Hove's Network scores five 2019 Tony Award nominations

We're pretty sure Bryan Cranston won't be mad as hell this morning!
Following his Olivier win for playing the part of maxed out anchorman Howard Beale in London, Bryan Cranston is on course to repeat the success at this year's Tony Awards! Alongside his electric leading man, the show's director - the crowd-pleasing Ivo van Hove - is up for Best Director of Play, with the final three nominations going to Jan Verweysveld, Eric Sleichim and Tal Yarden for Best Scenic, Sound and Lighting Design of a Play respectively.
What is Network about?
A chilling black comedy, Network is the story of newsreader Howard Beale who becomes increasingly outraged with the way that proper 'news' is devolving into a circus. After being fired following ailing ratings, Beale's desperation leads him to deliver the rant of his career, threatening a bloody outcome to his final broadcast. Whilst planning his on-air suicide, ratings go sky high in this cautionary tale of anger and exploitation.
