A World Premiere From Sharr White

The New Group welcomes back award-winning American playwright Sharr White for the world premiere of The True, a searing political thriller starring Tony-winning Sopranos actress Edie Falco, SNL alumnus Micheal McKean and TV star Peter Scolari. Helmed by the company's resident artistic director Scott Elliott, the production examines love, loyalty and gender through the lens of the male-dominated politics of the 70s.

Falco tackles the role of Dorothea "Polly" Noonan, an abrasive, straight-talking member of Albany's Democratic Party for whom there is no line between personal and political. Polly plays a dangerous game when her mentor Erastus Corning II, played by McKean, faces a challenge to his so far life long mayoral candidacy, battling for a party that's changing as rapidly as the times they live in.
