Written by Kirsten Guenther, this upbeat show is centered around the eccentric cinephile Benny and Joon, a woman dealing with a mental health crisis. Claybourne Elder reprises his role as Benny, opposite Hannah Ellis as Joon, with Bryce Pinkham as enigmatic oddball Sam.
Benny and Joon premiered in San Diego in 2017 to great notices from the critics, with the Times of San Diego calling it "totally delightful". It may have a Broadway future ahead of it, so catch this Paper Mill production while you can!
What is Benny and Joon About?
This quirky love romance centers on auto-mechanic Benny, who has devoted himself to care for his mentally ill sister Joon. Into their lives come Sam, a lovably eccentric movie nerd, who delights in recreating routines from Buster Keaton pictures. Sam and Joon soon begin to form a connection, but will Benny be able to let his sister out from under his wing?
