Jason Robert Brown's first musical
Before Parade and The Bridges of Madison County, there was Songs for a New World. Back in 1995 three-time Tony winner, Jason Robert Brown wrote the first of his musical works, birthing his iconic sound and putting the maestro on the map. Instead of taking the regular musical format, Songs for a New World is a collection of works that examines the outcome of when ordinary people are on the edge of extraordinary moments.
Exploring love, life and the choices we all make, Songs for a New World take us from a the deck of a 1492 Spanish ship to the plinth of a high-rise on 5th Avenue. With each character facing a unique challenge, they wonder what new world awaits them on the other side.
