The hit political satire makes its New York debut
A political satire that's just ripe for the picking in the current climate, this acclaimed comedy from Los Angeles makes its New York premiere this March at New World Stages. A whip-smart commentary on "plain speaking", faith, social media and political spin during an election, we follow the aftermath of one such player who decides that his best bet to win is to break all the rules - not unlike somebody else we know in real life. Art imitating life, indeed....
This fast-paced romp through the build-up to a senatorial election in North Carolina, the speech and immediate aftermath will have some audience members laughing, others groaning in their seats at the farcical goings-on with this four-person play. Richly imagined characters and accurate research reveal several surprises, as well as not devolving into a North vs South bunfight in terms of voter intelligence. Watch what happens when a candidate goes off-script and "tells it like it is", with no filter - because that always goes well.
