Will Purlie be Victorious on his mission?

Breaking onto Broadway this fall, Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch promises a barrel of laughs for all! The play is based on the 1961 manuscript by writer, actor, and director Ossie Davis. This seven time Tony-nominated iteration of the play is directed by the Tony-winner Kenny Leon and stars Hamilton great and Hollywood superstar, Leslie Odom Jr. A must-see!

What's it about?

This hilarious comedy follows the journey of preacher Purlie Victorious Judson, a man who returns to his hometown on a mission of liberation and redemption.

Leslie Odom Jr was born in New York and attended the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts, sealing his fate as an actor. He made his first Broadway appearance in 1998, and was the first actor to play contrarian Aaron Burr in Hamilton in its ground-breaking debut. He won several awards in this role, a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical, and a Grammy for the album.
