The City of Conversation

The City of Conversation at Mitzi E Newhouse Theater

Why see The City of Conversation?

Five-time Tony nominee Jan Maxwell plays Hester Ferris, the Washington DC socialite whose dinner parties always contained a steady mix of fine wine and top politicians. Her world is turned around though when her darling son brings home a new girlfriend - and some new political views which are quite different to hers.

The City of Conversation is set across six White House administrations spanning from the end of President Carter's term to the start of the Obama presidency. This LCT production is the world premiere of The City of Conversation, a brand new play by Anthony Giardina. It is directed by Doug Hughes, who also directed Outside Mullingar and Doubt, for which he won a Tony Award in 2005.
