Why See Red Roses, Green Gold?

World Premiere

Deadheads are you ready to experience the music of the iconic psychedelic heroes in a whole new way? This brand new musical from Michael Newman, his third work inspired by the Grateful Dead, will weave the 'Dead's oeuvre in the story of Jackson Jones and family in a marvellously comic and exciting new show.

With music and lyrics by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter, alongside additional collaboration with members past and present Red Roses, Green Gold will take us back to 1920s Maryland, where Jones and his pals swindle, con and gamble in search of their dreams.

Formed in 1965, The Grateful Dead were at the forefront of the San Francisco Sound, a heady mixture of jazz-influenced psychedelic rock and improvisation, heavily tied to the counterculture movement, that produced some of the greatest music of the decade.
