Drama Desk Award Winner - Outstanding Solo Performance
Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson returns to Broadway in Becky Mode's appetizing one man comedy. Fully Committed, which was last staged Off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theater in 1999, is a whirlwind comedic showcase for its sole performer, who must play over 40 characters during the show's 90 minute run time. Hilariously skewering New York's swanky food culture, as well as its customers' ceaseless quest for 'status', Fully Committed is based on Mode's own experiences at top-end eateries.
The show sees five-time Emmy nominee Ferguson reunite with producers Barbara Whitman and Patrick Catullo, who helped produce his last Broadway show The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Tony-nominee Jason Moore (Avenue Q, Pitch Perfect) directs.
What Is Fully Committed About?
Out of work actor Sam works for one of New York's fanciest eateries, manning the red-hot reservations hotline at a lonely table downstairs. It's his job to deal with the tidal wave of desperate customers who simply MUST book themselves a table, no matter the cost, as well as lending an ear to the constantly on edge front-of-house staff, and the Machiavellian head chef, who rules over the establishment with an iron fist. With his stress levels ever rising, can Sam maintain his sanity until clocking off time?
