Amy and the Orphans

A raucous road trip from the writer of Ugly Lies the Bone
Why see Amy and the Orphans?
by Lindsey Ferrentino
Last year, Lindsey Ferrentino's Ugly Lies the Bone explored the emotional and physical scars left by war, and signalled the emergence of a major new playwright. In 2018, Roundabout Theatre presents another commission from Ferrentino, with seven-time Tony nominee Scott Ellis (The Elephant Man, She Loves Me) in the director's chair. Amy and the Orphans is a exuberant road trip through Long island, following three siblings who find new connection in the aftermath of a family death.
What is Amy and the Orphans About?
After their father passes away, three siblings reunite and head out on the Long Island Expressway. One of the sisters, Amy, has Down Syndrome, and as the trip wares on, it seems that she might be the one who knows her own mind best.
