The Golden Gays' Hilarious Sitcom Spoof
The Golden Gays NYC drag trio burst out of Washington Height's Golden Girls-themed Rue La Rue Cafe in 2017 to much critical acclaim, courting sold out engagements all over the city with their loving send up of the late 80s sitcom staple. Now their riotously funny show enjoys a two-night-only Off-Broadway run at NYC's at Theatre Row's Kirk Theatre, so dust off those shoulder pads and schedule a perm - the girls are back!
Written and starring Andy Crosten, Gerry Matrolia and Jason Schmidt, the celebration of all things Golden Girls sees the trio portraying Dorothy, Blanche and Rose as they visit the Big Apple for the first time. Their matriarch Sophia has successfully pulled off a daring escape from her old age home in Miami, leading the girls to her whereabouts in New York City. A series of "hot flashbacks" allow for hilarious recreations of iconic scenes and memorable moments whilst audience participation makes for an interactive evening that'll keep you in stitches long after Sophia's found... She may even just be hiding in the audience!
