A Time to Kill

A Time to Kill at John Golden Theater

Why see A Time to Kill?

The greatest courtroom drama of a generation is now the theatrical event of the season!

A Time to Kill is based on John Grisham's classic bestselling novel about a violent attack on a young black girl in a small, racially-divided Mississippi town. When the girl's father decides to take the law into his own hands, an ambitious and idealistic white lawyer steps in to take on the case and the family fight for justice.

The play is adapted for the stage by Tony Award winner Rupert Holmes (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) and directed by Ethan McSweeny (The Best Man). This production of A Time to Kill is also the first-ever John Grisham novel to be adapted for the stage. It premiered in pre-Broadway engagement in Washington, DC, in 2011 at the Arena Stage.

Emmy winning actor Tom Skerritt is set to make his Broadway debut in the production as Lucien Wilbanks. He stars alongside Patrick Page, Tonya Pinkins, and Chike Johnson.

John Grisham comes to Broadway! Yeah

Went to the first preview - because I love John Grisham. This was a great start - super set, rich and wonderful troup of actors, high drama, humor and the audience was totally engaged. It was impressive that the director came out at the start and talked about it really being a preview and ripe for changes and evolutions! ... Read more
