Why see Ain't Too Proud?

The Temptations Musical

Last chance to see on Broadway - closes January 16th!

You know their music, but do you know their story? Ain't Too Proud is the stunning jukebox musical that tracks the life and times of The Temptations, one of the biggest groups of the 1960s and 70s. Tracing their rise to the top of the Motown table against a backdrop of an America in social and political upheaval, Ain't Too Proud packs just as much drama as it does classic songs.

Ain't Too Proud made its debut at the Berkeley Repertory Theater, and bowled over the critics and audiences alike, becoming the highest-growing production in the venue's history. Among the iconic numbers featured are "My Girl", "Papa was a Rolling Stone", "Just My Imagination", "I Can't Get Next To You", and "I Wish It Would Rain".

Garnering 12 Tony award nominations Ain't Too Proud was one of the highest nominated shows of 2019. Make sure you pay special attention to the choreography, Sergio Trujillo won the Tony for it!

What is Ain't Too Proud About?

Formed by five young guys from Detroit, vocal group The Temptations struggled for years to land a hit. Things turned around when they signed for Motown, and with legendary songwriters like Smokey Robinson writing them tunes, the group rose to become one of the biggest names in American music. But their path to superstardom was far from smooth sailing, with clashing personalities and political disagreements nearly tearing the group apart.

Did You Know?

The Temptations are still performing to this day, with Otis Williams the sole remaining original member.
