Why See The Last Five Years?

MusicalsStars on Stage

A Groundbreaking Revival

This story of a relationship, told from both sides with a unique and compelling twist, will star Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren!

Broadway is about to welcome a fresh take on Jason Robert Brown's seminal musical, The Last Five Years, as the musical makes its Broadway debut featuring the superstar pairing of Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren. This highly anticipated musical promises a journey through love, heartache, and the passage of time like never before as it raises the bar for modern musical theatre!

After an outstanding off-Broadway premiere with Sherie Rene Scott and Norbert Leo Butz and a film adaptation starring Jeremy Jordan and Anna Kendrick, now you get to experience Cathy and Jamie's story on the big stage.

What Is The Story?

Named one of Time magazine's top shows of 2001 and featured in its movie form at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, The Last Five Years is the love story of two young New York residents, Cathy and Jamie. The musical brings audiences on a roller coaster ride of emotions as the couple fall in and out of love with one another over the course of five years.

As Cathy recounts her journey of love in reverse chronological order, Jamie starts at the beginning of their relationship, shortly after their first encounter. Despite both telling the story of their love, the pair meet and interact only once with each other in the show.

Who Are The Creatives?

Renowned director Whitney White, who won praise for her work on Jaja's African Hair Braiding, brings a contemporary vision that allows viewers to see the highs and lows of Jamie and Cathy's troubled relationship, whilst revitalising Brown's intensely emotional score and story.
