Black Light
Daniel Alexander Jones' fiesty alter-ego Jomama Jones is back in New York
We are an independent show guide. Resale ticket prices may be above face value.
What we learn from Jomama's very particular radiance is this: you don't have to reduce the musical form to a musical just to make it more digestible. If you make a good, less reductive, and more grownup show, the people will come

Daniel Alexander Jones' fiesty alter-ego Jomama Jones is back in New York
Groundbreaking performance and theatre artist Daniel Alexander Jones first introduced Off-Broadway audiences to the whirlwind of glamor, fierceness and fabulosity that is his alter-ego Jomama Jones during The Public Theater's critically acclaimed debut run of Black Light in the Spring of 2018. The Joe's Pub New York Voices program commission returns to the city this fall for a strictly limited engagement at the Greenwich House Theatre.
Jomama weaves together personal stories, reflects on the world's current political chaos and performs original songs inspired by the music of Dianna Ross, Prince, Tina Turner and Sade, throwing in a dash of Afromysticism and the feminine divine, embracing the spirituality of the modern black experience. A truly immersive performance piece that blurs the line between audience and artist, Black Light is the perfect soul food for our turbulent times.
